Gothic 1 Remake
Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
June 5th
Steam Description: Return to the Valley of the Mines in this faithful remake of the genre-defining open world RPG. Explore a hand-crafted, organic open world that reacts dynamically to your actions. Whether you're a seasoned Gothic veteran or this is your first time being thrown into the colony, you're in for a true RPG experience with unrestricted exploration like no other.
Why we're excited: I have never played a Gothic game, but I have heard it mentioned hundreds of times over my 25+ years as a gamer. It's one of the franchises that always seems to pop up when people discuss their favorite Western RPG/adventure games, so I look forward to experiencing this classic for myself come June 5th. From the trailers, the game feels like a combination of The Witcher 2 and Fable 1. If that turns out to be the case, then this is a game you probably won't want to miss.
Burglin' Gnomes
Platform: PC
June 10th
Steam Description: An online Co-op game about breaking into houses and causing havoc as a tiny gnome. Avoid danger, repurpose stolen household items, and complete tasks to meet the High-Gnome’s demands. Craft equipment and upgrade your home to make your missions easier and more successful.
Why we're excited: I played the demo a while back, and yeah, it's a crazy good time. It feels like a combination of Lethal Company and Repo, which is music to my ears because those are like my two favorite coop games ever. It's such a silly concept that leads to some of the most bizarre and laughter-filled moments I haven't experienced in a while. I really hope this game lives up to expectations.
EA Sports UFC 6
Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X|S
June 19th
PS store description: EA SPORTS™ UFC® 6 is powered by fighters. Evolved striking and motion systems bring those UFC stars to life in the Octagon, while new game modes introduce immersive storytelling that makes every fight feel personal. That starts with Markerless Capture, which delivers unprecedented fighter fidelity with authentic locomotion and Signature Strikes, complemented by new fighter bodies built with Sapien Technology that make your favorite UFC superstars truly look, move, and fight like themselves. Real-Time Contact brings the impact to the Octagon with Frostbite™ powered ragdoll physics and damage reactions that hurt so good. When you really start dishing out the damage, enter Flow State, which engages an athlete's standout skills in punishing fashion. Finally, all-new game modes like Hall of Legends and The Legacy let you experience the stories of UFC greats or carve your own path, from backrooms to the bright lights. Square up and fight your fight.
Why we're excited: I love martial arts! From fighting games, to movies/tv shows, to the many hours I spend watching MMA matches on YouTube. Like Dana White, I'm always looking for the next big fight. As someone who owns most of the UFC games, I look forward to seeing what new changes are made in this iteration. From the trailers, there's a big focus on making the characters move like their real-life counterparts as well as a push for a more snappier arcade experience, which I like since it makes the game feel closer to UFC 2, aka the best one.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round
Platform: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
June 25th
Steam Description: Intense Fighting Entertainment is back!! Fan-favorite 3D fighting game DEAD OR ALIVE 6 is back with stylish moves, striking animations, and a cast of colorful characters to go head-to-head in the fighting game world's most extreme battles!
Place, pose, and take picture-perfect screenshots of your favorite characters in the new Photo Mode. Play with the classic DOA6 roster and 5 additional DLC characters from the original version, along with new costumes. Whether you're a new player or a longtime veteran, DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round has the action you're looking for.
Why we're excited:Ahh, DOA, a franchise notorious for having the most over-the-top, nonsensical fan service of all time. Despite the assumption that anyone who enjoys this franchise is some sort of degenerate, the combat in these games has always been extremely fun. While I won't deny my interest in the "plot" or "core values," I will say that DOA 5: Last Round was one of my favorite fighting games towards the end of the 360's console cycle, and the original DOA 5 was not that good. So, here's to hoping this new version of DOA 6 can fix the issues that ruined the original game.
Star Fox Remake
Platform: Switch 2
June 25th
E-Shop description: Step into the cockpit and fly across the stars and skies with Fox McCloud and the Star Fox™ team! With the Lylat system under attack by evil scientist Andross, it’s up to you and the squad to fend off his forces. Blast your way through enemies in a fast-paced adventure that will have you tearing through space, soaring across planets, and shooting loads of foes out of the sky at every turn. Featuring new fully voiced dialogue, an epic orchestral soundtrack, and a complete visual overhaul for the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system.
Why we're excited: I'm always going to be excited when a legacy franchise makes a major return, even if I have never personally played them myself. I think I have played Starfox 64 for maybe a total of 5 minutes, so personally, this isn't a major announcement for me, but I love the idea of Nintendo taking another look at some of our favorite old games and giving them a shiny coat of paint and quality-of-life fixes. Here's to hoping we get a Switch 2 Mario 64 remake next.
