The Summer Games Fest main show has concluded, and it was the craziest gaming showcase I have ever seen. So many huge announcements happened during that two-hour show, and personally, I think everyone who saw it can all agree that not a single second felt wasted. Here are 14 of the craziest announcements from the Summer Games Fest 2026 showcase.
Resident Evil Veronica
We knew it was coming, but we're ecstatic to see it actually announced. Another Resident Evil remake is coming our way, and this time it's Code Veronica. Code Veronica is exactly the kind of game that needs to be remade. It was a good concept, buried by poor game design and absurd writing. This is an opportunity to make the Code Veronica story an incredible adventure instead of it being one of the redheaded stepchildren of the Resident Evil franchise. I can't wait to get my hands on it next year.
Cuphead 2 In Development
Cuphead 2 is in development! Yes, the sequel to one of the most impressive displays of 2d animation is on its way. While they didn't show us any gameplay, they did announce that they will release a smaller project in the Cuphead franchise called Mighty Cuphead Adventure, which features visuals inspired by old 8-bit era video games.
Alien Isolation 2
After twelve years, I didn't even think this announcement was possible anymore. However, today the gaming gods have granted us a miracle sequel. Yes, Alien Isolation 2 is real, and it’s coming out soon-ish. Alien Isolation 2 will have everyone pissing their pants as they struggle to survive on a new abandoned colony, fleeing from the xenomorph.
Gen Atlas
If I said Fumito Ueda, the creator of “ICO,” “Shadow of the Colossus,” and “The Last Guardian,” was working on a new game, and it basically was “Shadow of the Colossus” fused with “The Iron Giant,” how low would jaw drop from shock and excitement? Well, ours fell so low it was halfway to China. Gen Atlas seems like it's going to be another masterpiece from this legendary creator.
Tupac in Stranger Than Heaven
I can promise you that Tupac being in Stranger Than Heaven was not on anyone's SGF bingo card. No, you're not daydreaming. RGG Studios announced that Tupac would play a role in their next game. I have no idea how this happened, nor did they explain his significance in the story. The only thing I can say is that this game continues to blow me away with each update.
Guild Wars 3
Guild Wars is back with Guild Wars 3. The Guild Wars franchise has always believed in pushing the MMO experience forward and redefining what MMO combat can be, so I look forward to seeing how they push the genre forward with their new entry. There wasn't much shown, but we can expect a massive open world with movement being a prominent component of gameplay.
Virtua Fighter 6 Crossroads
RGG Studios gave another crazy announcement at today's show with the official full announcement of VIRTUA Fighter 6 Crossroads. A massive project that will attempt to push the boundaries of the fighting game genre. Featuring a fully voiced cinematic open world as it's major singleplayer offering as well as revamping the combat systems of the franchise, this new title may become the new standard for fighting games.
Saw Genesis
You know what’s a genius idea that surprisingly doesn't already exist? A multiplayer saw game that has three players working together to free themselves from nightmare-ish traps, vs one player who gets to role-play as the madman himself. Saw Genesis is just that, a 3v1 multiplayer that seems to be a combination of RE:Resistance and the Outlast trials. The trailer was creepy, gory, and everything Saw fans would love.
Star Wars Zero Company
The only thing that could be better than another X-Com game is an X-Com game in the Star Wars universe. Yes, that's right, Star Wars Zero Company is a Star Wars X-Com game. We don't need details anymore; that concept alone has me sold.
Monster Wilds Ascendant
Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance is the massive MH expansion that typically comes a year or so after the latest game is released. It features a new sky zone, a returning elder dragon, and a crazy new combat mechanic.
An Update on Wolf Among Us 2
We have been in the dark about this game for over 8 years. Bigby's story continues in The Wolf Among Us 2. New characters, crime, and mysteries await us in 2027.
Stellar Blade Blood Rain
I was not expecting to see a sequel to Stellar Blade so soon. The first game came out only two years ago, and this sequel seems to be a bigger, crazier, and more adrenaline-pumping experience than the first game. Featuring a new protagonist named Evie who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, Stellar Blade Blood Rain will take the franchise's combat in new directions.
Tifa in Street Fighter 6
The rumor was true: Tifa will be heading to the streets in Street Fighter 6 season 4. No major gameplay details were shown, but the SF6 director, Takayuki Nakayama, as well as the FF7R director, Naoki Hamaguchi, confirmed that her moves will be directly inspired by the recent FF7 games.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelations
And finally, the final part in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy was announced; Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, with it, a massive amount of information and gameplay. Meteor, Weapons, giant airships, and a massive, fully explorable open-world await us come spring of next year. 2027 Game of the Year?
